Dream Camp

I am a retired Healthcare Executive with a BS degree from the University of Toledo and a Masters degree in Healthcare from the University of Minnesota.

I have always had an interest in Art, but my health care career lead me away from it, until the early 1990's. As part of my employment, I began to travel extensively throughout the world. It was during this period that the art flame began to heat up inside me.

After one such trip, I returned to Macomb Community College, where I enrolled in a basic drawing class. In this class, we were introduced to several different medias. I chose to work in pastels and enrolled to study with August Gloss, Romeo, MI. Since 1991, I have taken numerous classes with him. He is a master pastelist, who does both landscapes and portraits.

I try to interpret what I see and feel through the expression of color. I am very interested in people and you will find that I often include people in different situations in my work.

In my retirement I have taken many art classes at the Visual Arts Center, Punta Gorda, FL. These include portraiture and landscapes in pastel, oil and acrylics.

I enter art shows as often as I can, and usually get juried into the shows. I have won several honorable mentions, one Special Judges Award. At the October 2007 Harvest of Arts, Visual Arts Center, Punta Gorda, FL 3rd merit Award, also an Merit Award at the Southwest Florida Pastel Society’s member show in the spring of 2007.

I have participated in workshops with Daniel Greene, Ireland, Fran Hines, Punta Gorda, FL Jerry Powers, Douglas Flynt and Robert Maniscalco, Grosse Point, MI

My work has been displayed at the Visual Arts Center, Punta Gorda, FL, International College, Naples, FL, Bonita Springs Art Center, Bonita Springs, FL, Thumb Area Artist, Romeo, MI, Bank of America, Port Charlotte, FL, Arts and Humanities Council, Port Charlotte, FL and President Ford Museum Rapids, MI, Art Prize 2009.

I am a member of the Southwest Florida Pastel Society, International Pastel Society, Charlotte County Art Guild. I am a Past President of the Southwest Florida Pastel Society.
