For as long as I could hold a pencil, I have been creating artwork. From drawing, to painting, to weaving, stained glass and finally pastels, I enjoy it all. My college education centered on the arts, from a formal study of the History of Art, practical experience in photography, weaving, sculpture and fashion design.
My creative endeavors eventually took me to magazine design as a profession. As an Art Director, I worked with wonderful photographers and illustrators and grew as a professional as well as an artist. Devoting countless hours producing an internationally recognized magazine left little time for personal interests. Moving to Florida in retirement has
aroused my creative juices once again. I began with a drawing class. which led the way to pastel classes and immediately
fell in love with them again. I had been introduced to pastels over thirty years ago but had no time to pursue them
at the time. Now, after a few more classes, I have become totally committed to pastels as my medium.
I love water, be it the Gulf, or canal scenes. Impressionism is my favorite style of painting and try to
incorporate this style in my own work.
Painting pet portraits is also a love of mine. The most wonderful compliment is from their families, when I have
finished a portrait is that their personalities are there.
