Art has been a part of my life that has been both a source of comfort, and occasionally, frustration. I taught Art for 31 years in five Delaware public schools, and enjoyed every minute of it. Well, maybe not every minute, but 99% of it at least. During my teaching years I found that I did very little art "for myself", concentrating on creating an atmosphere for my students that hopefully would make them want to create artwork on their own.

When I retired from teaching I decided to explore my abilities as an artist, and I tried oils, watercolors, and acrylics, as well as pastels. In 2007 my friend Patti Leavitt encouraged me to start taking pastel classes at the Art League of Bonita Springs under the guidance of Cheri Dunnigan. It was wonderful to find a community of aspiring artists who were supportive, and a teacher who brought out the best in me. Since then I have joined two other art organizations in my home state, and I participate in exhibits and show in galleries in both Florida and Delaware.

In 2009 I was accepted into the Pastel Society of America as an Associate Member. When I am living in my winter home in Bonita Springs, I seek out workshops and classes that will help me to grow and improve as an artist. Who knows, someday I may get to use those three magical letters after my name, P.S.A. It could happen!
